The fake crown inspectors ask for cash
Two strangers are said to have pretended to be employees of the city public order office in Leverkusen and asked passersby to pay 50 euros in cash. They argued that people on the street did not wear mouth and nose protection, they violated the crown protection ordinance, police said. A 47-year-old woman who had been approached by the two scammers became suspicious and called the police. Then the men who had appeared in bomber jackets, caps and black masks fled.
The authorities point out that the employees of the public order offices never ask for money on the spot, but always initiate a procedure.
