In the fight against the crown pandemic, the government of Saxony has imposed a blockade. Kindergartens, schools and many shops will be closed from Monday. The cabinet decided that in its new Crown Protection Ordinance.
SAchsen imposed a blockade from Monday to contain the corona pandemic and shut down public life. The cabinet decided on the exact measures on Friday night in Dresden in its new Crown Protection Ordinance. Therefore, schools, day care centers and after-school care centers will remain closed, as will many retail stores. The lockdown is expected to last until January 10.
In particularly affected areas, there should be exit restrictions between 10 pm and 6 am Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) announced nightly “curfews”. They are said to attack from an incidence value of 200. Then the house can only be left for valid reasons. There is a 15 kilometer radius around your own lounge for shopping and sports.
Köpping referred to the drastic increase in the number of infections in Saxony. That worries her a lot. 2,754 patients are in the hospital, 494 of them in intensive care units. “I want to say that the situation in Saxony is still serious.” That is why the new protection ordinance was adopted. “The country must rest,” emphasized the minister.
Kretschmer called for “very clear authoritarian measures by the state”
Saxony Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) had previously called for tough measures in view of Corona’s situation in his state. After a visit to a clinic in Görlitz last week, he learned that “we need different and very clear authoritarian measures from the state,” Kretschmer said during a visit to a hospital in Aue on Friday.
The new measures in Saxony are “clearly necessary so that doctors and nurses can get back to doing their work with good quality and no longer in a state of absolute excessive demand,” Kretschmer said. The goal of maintaining medical care is “non-negotiable.”
The Prime Minister stressed that measures must also be taken in other federal states. “An exit restriction is of no use if the stores are open, if the schools are open, if the kindergartens are open.”
Saxony is a national crown hotspot. Both the Robert Koch Institute and the Ministry of Health reported an incidence value of 313 for him on Friday. The parliament also participated in the decision through meetings of the state parliamentary committees.
More and more country leaders are pushing for a closure for all of Germany. “We can’t wait any longer,” warns NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet:
