The first corona tests are taking place today on people who visited a bistro on Sylt on the night of October 4. One of the guests was infected.

Numerous people accepted the North Friesland district’s request over the weekend to report whether they had been to the “American Bistro” in Westerland two weekends earlier. More than 200 calls and 50 emails were received in 24 hours. 101 of them were indeed there during the period in question. 83 of them are from Sylt. 19 people do not come from Schleswig-Holstein and should take the Corona test in their home areas.

The District Health Office and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians are currently in Sylt with two teams and are evaluating the 83 affected people in the afternoon. Test results are expected Thursday.

Was it a “super spread” night?

A man tested positive for coronavirus in the middle of the week. It turned out that he had visited the island’s popular restaurant before the test result. The rules of distance and hygiene may not have been properly observed there. According to his account, between 70 and 100 people were in the bistro at the same time as him. Searching for the other guests turned out to be difficult because the restaurant operator could only provide incomplete and largely incorrect contact lists.

There is no penalty for incorrect contact details

As announced by the circle, in this case a fine for incorrect contact details is waived. “It is only important for us to stop the spread of the virus,” said Nina Rahder, head of the safety, health and veterinary department of the North Frisia district administration. However, the extent to which the restaurant operator has violated current Corona rules is now being determined. For the time being, he voluntarily closed his bistro. According to Rahder, it cannot be ruled out that employees were also exposed to an increased risk of infection and also needed to be tested.
