A doctor from Gevelsberg, in the Ennepe-Ruhr district, North Rhine-Westphalia, gave his first insights into the vaccination center of the Volmarstein Foundation in Wetter. 180 doses of vaccination were made available to each district and city. “It was immediately clear to us that the vials contained more vaccine for several people. When it came to portioning, we had 220 syringes ready to use, ”Keßel told DER WESTEN.
Corona vaccine is stored at minus 70 degrees, thawed and dissolved in sterile saline and divided into portions prior to injection.

“It is a powder that comes in a vial that contains about 1.8 milliliters. After dividing into portions, the liquid is fed into the syringes: 0.3 milliliters, ”explains Ludger Keßel.

Residents of the houses were vaccinated and employees went to the Wetter vaccination center in North Rhine-Westphalia. Volunteer doctors, like Ludger Keßel and his medical director Christian Füllers, carried out the vaccinations.
“The environment was very nice. You could tell that people were waiting for him. Residents still helped us get the shot off the elevator to the fifth floor. He was driving it with his electric wheelchair, ”says the 62-year-old.
