Masks now also in public spaces

Now it applies from an incidence value of 35, that is, 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, even outdoors if it is not possible to maintain the distance. It is a recommendation. The rule is mandatory from an incidence value of 50. The counties and urban districts determine the corresponding locations in a corresponding general decree.

Blocking hours from 11 pm and contact restrictions

As the letter shows, additional restrictions are planned: there must be blackout times between 11 pm and 6 am if a municipality is above the critical value of incidence of 35. Birkner: “More action than strategy”

Criticism of the new regulations came from the FDP. The chairman of the parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament, Stefan Birkner, said: “Some of the things in this ordinance seem more like actionism than a well thought out strategy. I think it is questionable if the outdoor masks and the touch curfews really reduce the incidence of infections. I would appreciate it, if instead the state government takes concrete measures against the pandemic, for example, with air purification systems in schools or enough staff in the health authorities, “said Birkner . “Braunschweiger Zeitung” (Friday).

The incidence exceeds 40 throughout the country

The number of new corona infections detected in one day has risen again considerably. In Lower Saxony alone, another 754 people tested positive. The seven-day incidence across the country now has a value of 40.5.
