The number of new corona infections registered in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania increased by 78 cases from Friday to Saturday. A total of 2,144 infections have been recorded in the country since March.

More recently, a 66-year-old Covid19 patient with previous chronic illnesses died in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. Since then, the number of deaths in the northeast has been 21. Compared with other federal states, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania still has by far the lowest number of cases. Nationwide, 215 (+3) people have had or had to be treated in clinics since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, 26 of them in intensive care units. According to the intensive registry, eleven COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, five of them need ventilation. A total of 564 (-11) intensive care beds are currently occupied in the Northeast, 184 are currently free (as of October 24, 2020, 4pm).

According to information from LaGuS, the majority of those infected were or still are in the Mecklenburg Lake District with 409 cases so far. That’s four more cases than LaGuS reported the day before. The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald follows with 341 (+25) cases. In the Hanseatic city of Rostock, 312 (+10), in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district with 305 (+12) and in the Vorpommern-Rügen district 216 (+9) infections have been reported so far. There are now 216 (+15) registered people in the Rostock district who have been shown to have been infected with the corona virus. The lowest numbers are found in the Northwest Mecklenburg district with 190 (+0) and the state capital, Schwerin, with 155 (+3) cases.

According to LaGuS, the Rostock district has the highest incidence in 7 days with 37.2 and therefore slides towards a critical range. The responsible authorities wanted to discuss new measures on Saturday. In the Mecklenburg Lake District the value dropped to 30.9, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district it rose to 34.6. At the national level, the incidence value has risen to 27.1. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is still below the critical mark of 50 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week.
