Berlin – The rally against the crown policy of the federal and state governments will begin on Saturday, but anti-crown activists, including anti-Semites, right-wing extremists and conspiracy theorists, heated up Friday night.

The protesters gathered on the boulevard “Unter den Linden”, many of them belong to the circle of the so-called citizens of the Reich. The police rounded up several hundred between the Brandenburg Gate and Friedrichstrasse, including in front of the Russian embassy.

According to official information, there were around 1,500 protesters. According to the police, the recorded demonstration was peaceful, but several calls had to be made to maintain a distance.

In the vicinity of the “Tipi at the Chancellery”, the activists had established a camp that was later closed. Members of the “lateral thinking 711” had settled in three dozen small shops. The initiative organizes the demonstration scheduled for Saturday.

The meeting on Saturday may take place subject to the conditions to meet the minimum distance, the court ruled on Friday by urgent decision. However, it can hardly be expected that they will be met.

Melanie Holic (29) came from Switzerland especially for the anti-corona demonstration. You will not wear a mask in the demonstration or pay attention to minimum distances. She ignored scientific findings about the virus: “I don’t have to keep my distance. Love and closeness is the right medicine for everyone. And please don’t get vaccinated, you have an immune system that needs to be strengthened. ”

Other activists contacted by BILD stated that they also did not want to meet requirements such as keeping a minimum distance or wearing a mask.

BILD asked anti-corona activists Friday night why they were taking to the streets. The protesters revealed radical and confused opinions and feel persecuted. “We defend the freedom and sovereignty of the German people,” said one activist. And he added absurd assertions: “I hope the government will be overthrown. She enslaved us, equipped us with muzzles, and lied to us massively. They no longer have the right to direct us. ”

Another protester wanted to believe that the German Reich never collapsed and called for an end to the FRG. Many of those approached consider the corona pandemic to be an invention of the media and politics and are calling for a peace treaty, although the treaty with the two plus four treaty has been around for a long time.

In any case, the police expect violent protesters on Saturday. To cope with the operation, the police have more than 3,000 emergency personnel.

“I guess 10,000 to 20,000 would surely want to meet in the city,” said Police Chief Stephan Katte. The police have already received more than 5,100 registrations for demonstrations on various issues. The “overwhelming majority” are surrogate events that always use the same text module, said Police Chief Barbara Slowik.

Police file a complaint

On Friday, the Berlin administrative court overturned the ban on demonstrations issued by the authorities on Wednesday. According to the court, the demonstration should take a different route than originally planned and lead through larger streets: from Leipziger Strasse to Tiergarten, through Tiergartenstrasse and Hofjägerallee to Großer Stern and then to Strasse des 17. Juni.

There is insufficient evidence of an imminent threat to public safety.

The organizers had presented a hygiene concept. The country could not demonstrate that this should not be met. The requirements for the demonstration were not adequately verified.

In the early afternoon, the police lodged a complaint with the Superior Administrative Court (OVG). The decision is still pending.

Calls to violence

The initiator of the demonstration Michael Ballweg emphasized that Saturday’s demonstration must be peaceful. “Those who incite violence are not ours.”

However, the vice president of police, Marco Langner, had said Friday morning that information from social media showed that people were also calling to arm themselves. “This openly formulated willingness to use violence against the state represents a new dimension for us,” Langner said.

Police Director Katte said there were numerous barriers by Saturday, including water cannons.
