Dear readers,

You may be surprised that you receive the newsletter from me today, and not from my colleague Marcel Roth. But as you indicated in yesterday’s newsletter, I just needed a break today. Because he works from his home office and his children are also at home due to the quarantine … That’s why I went in, but tomorrow he will write to you again.

Now we come to the topics of this newsletter. A change to the Infection Protection Act was voted on today in Berlin. Thousands of people demonstrated against him at the Brandenburg Gate and, sadly, the protest was not peaceful. In this newsletter, I will summarize what exactly has been changed in the law and what that means.

Let’s take a look at how the number of infections has developed in Germany. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 17,561 new infections have been reported across the country, most of them in North Rhine-Westphalia (+4,407), Bayern (+3,559) and Baden-Württemberg (+2,274).
