The crisis team reported on Tuesday on the status of corona vaccination in Lower Saxony. In addition, the country has adopted new disaster control measures to relieve vaccination centers.

To this end, the cabinet decided to establish an “extraordinary event of consequences at the national level” in accordance with paragraph 27a of the Lower Saxony Disaster Protection Law. This allows the deployment of municipal disaster control units under the central state administration. In addition, a special “Crown control” unit will be temporarily installed in the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Weil defends new rules and receives criticism in the cabinet

The Lower Saxony state parliament had it on Monday controversially discussed over the new Corona regulation. Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) defended the measures in plenary. A clear decrease in the number of infections has not yet been achieved, so the new regulations are necessary, said the head of government. The opposition harshly criticized the direction of the state government.

Counties designate locations for vaccination centers

In preparation for mass vaccination of the population against the corona virus, the districts had to inform the Interior Ministry about possible locations of the vaccination centers on Monday night. Up to 60 vaccination centers are planned throughout the country. In Hannover, exhibition halls, in Braunschweig the town hall and elsewhere, among other things, sports halls and empty furniture stores will be turned into vaccination centers.
