In light of the dramatic increase in corona infections since last week, there are new restrictions in parts of the Cloppenburg district. This step is necessary because there are now 61.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the district in the last seven days. The limit set by the federal and state governments is 50. The Löningen area is still particularly affected, as district manager Johann Wimberg (CDU) said at a press conference on Friday. To curb the spread of the corona virus, the district is imposing restrictions on meetings in Löningen, Lastrup, Essen and Lindern.

Meetings are prohibited on the club premises
For example, any meeting in the club’s facilities is prohibited in the municipalities. Restaurants have to close at 10 pm Social contacts should also be significantly reduced. Only a maximum of six people are allowed to meet. If people from just two households come together, there may be more than six people. The general decree of the district is valid until October 4.
How do the measurements work?
The district will continue to monitor the infection process very closely in the coming days, Wimberg said. The Copernicus primary school in Löningen and a branch of the vocational school were already closed last week. Additionally, students from other schools were quarantined in cohorts. Additionally, there are restrictions on club sports throughout the district. “Now we have to see what effect the measures will have and if we may need to take further action,” the district administrator said.
