The first episode of “Love Island” aired on Monday night. Singles should come closer and find love for life in a villa in Mallorca. This year’s candidates were quarantined for 14 days before the start of the dome show. However, there was now a crown case on set. Moderator Jana Ina Zarrella tested positive for Covid-19.

Filming for the first episode took place over the weekend. Shortly after, the Brazilian flew back to Germany from Spain. There, the 43-year-old man was tested for the corona virus. The test was positive.

“I still can’t get it right”

The test result came as a surprise to Giovanni Zarrella’s wife. “Since I don’t have any symptoms and I’m fine, I still can’t understand it,” the presenter said in an interview with RTLzwei. “I had a lot of tests recently done because of ‘Love Island.’ The results have always been negative.” The positive result came on Monday.

The safety distance of at least two meters was also observed. “Employees at the location who were in closest contact with the moderator have already been screened and are isolated until the results are available.”
