Apple has been pre-ordering for the new iPhone SE since last week, and delivery will begin on April 24. If you order now, you have to wait a little longer, possibly even until May 7. This shows once again that more devices have been ordered than Apple can provide at first.
So far what else you hear about the comments has always been very positive. The new iPhone SE appears to have been created especially for Apple users who have been using their iPhone for a few years and have used a 5 or 6 series, for example.
In my opinion, there is a very simple reason for this: the price. The new iPhone SE is not only the cheapest iPhone (measured by Apple’s original retail price), but it also breaks a trend that has developed in exactly the opposite direction in recent years. Just take a look at the following list:
- iPhone 3GS: 519 euros
- iPhone 4: 629 euros
- iPhone 4s: 629 euros
- iPhone 5: 679 euros
- iPhone 5s: 699 euros
- iPhone 5c: 599 euros
- iPhone 6: 699 euros
- iPhone 6s: 739 euros
- iPhone SE: 489 euros
- iPhone 7: 759 euros
- iPhone 8: 799 euros
- iPhone X: 1,149 euros
- iPhone XS: 1,149 euros
- iPhone XR: 849 euros
- iPhone 11: 799 euros
- iPhone 11 Pro: 1,149 euros
In addition to the inexpensive iPhone 5c and the first iPhone SE, Apple has known only one direction in recent years: Prices have risen sharply, at the latest since the iPhone X broke the 1,000-euro mark.
E: Even the iPhone 8, XR and 11, which Apple already considered a cheap alternative to the respective top models, are still significantly more expensive than iPhone models from previous years.
With the 479 euros necessary for the iPhone SE, one should get to the nerve of many users who do not need three cameras, neither Face ID nor OLED screen. Instead, it takes an existing and proven case with a screen and camera, drops the price, and still uses a current processor that will still offer enough performance in three to four years.
When I think of my parents, my in-laws, and most of my friends, I simply have to say: The new iPhone SE fits perfectly into your requirements profile.
