Corona infections in the Cloppenburg district have risen further and exceeded the seven-day limit for the first time. On Friday, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs reported 61.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days for the district. From a value of 50, the municipality is obliged to intensify protection measures against infection. From Thursday to Friday alone, 28 new infections were added. The district wants to comment on the drastic increase today at 2 p.m.
Strict general district decree
The Cloppenburg district had previously stated that it would not plan a closure even if the threshold value of 50 was exceeded. It will continue to be subject to selective restrictions, so district spokesman Frank Beumke. The district has tightened a general decree since Tuesday: The pools are closed until the end of the month, according to NDR 1 Lower Saxony. Physical education in schools is also not carried out. Due to numerous violations of the mask requirement on school buses, the district also wants to increase its controls. Students who knowingly and negligently violate the mask requirement are threatened with fines rather than reprimands.
Infected soccer team and coach
The increase in cases is mainly due to crown outbreaks in the city of Löningen. Last week, ten players and a coach from the SV Evenkamp football club tested positive for the virus there. According to the district, there were other cases in a retirement home and in schools.
