The 47-year-old wanted to cross the area of ​​the tram track on Augustusburger Strasse in Hans-Sachs-Strasse at around 1:30 p.m. This caused a collision with a line 5 train, which was traveling out of town.

The cyclist got under the tram. In a dramatic rescue operation, the woman was released by firefighters. Before that, the emergency services had to lift the tram.

The 47-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital. The tram driver (46) was unharmed.

“In addition, two passers-by had to receive medical attention for a scare,” said a police spokesman.

Due to rescue measures, the tram traffic had to stop until around 3:50 p.m. CVAG established a replacement service.

Until now, it is still unclear how the dramatic accident occurred. For this reason, the police are looking for witnesses who observed the accident. In particular, information is sought on the driving behavior of those involved and the change of traffic light in the area of ​​the road crossing.
