Isn’t a November lockdown enough?
Chancellor Angela Merkel (66, CDU) has invited a press conference on the crown measures on short notice. Following the meeting of the Crown Cabinet of the Federal Government, he will answer questions from journalists from Germany and abroad at the Federal Press Conference in Berlin.

“More freedom” in December?
Merkel said to return to a position where health authorities can understand infections. In 75 percent of the cases, this is no longer the case.
He knows that the measures are tough, but this is the only way to be successful: “The virus punishes the lack of enthusiasm.”
It is up to everyone to make November a success. This creates the prerequisites for a “bearable” December, “under the Crown’s rules, of course, but with more freedom.”
Restrictions apply starting today
A partial lockdown has been in effect across Germany since Monday, initially limited to four weeks, mainly affecting leisure activities. Across the country, restaurateurs, cultural and leisure facilities are now largely prohibited from opening. Stricter rules also apply to face-to-face meetings. The regulations that took effect at midnight continue to be criticized because, for example, responsible innkeepers are now supposed to pay the price for the irresponsible actions of others whose behavior went unpunished.
One of the burning questions: will the lockdown really end at the end of the month? Can retailers expect a reasonably normal holiday season? Does the discipline of citizens (among other things, most of the opening events of carnivals and several Christmas markets have been canceled) make a Christmas halfway possible?

Measurements are tested in 14 days
The head of the chancellery, Helge Braun (CDU), reiterated the will of the federal government to relax the new restrictions of the crown after about four weeks. “Our stated goal is that we want to end the measures with this rigor by the end of November,” Braun told RBB Inforadio.
In two weeks, the strict measures will be discussed again and adjusted if necessary.
Extensive contact closure aims to prevent health authorities and the health system from becoming overloaded, especially intensive care units. Current figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) show just how great the risks are. The number of registered corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days in Germany is now 120.1. On Friday, this so-called 7-day incidence was above 100 for the first time (104.9), four weeks ago, but on October 5 it was only 16.8.
The number of Covid 19 cases treated in intensive care has nearly tripled in the past two weeks from 769 patients to 2,061 patients, according to the RKI management report.
The director of the German Hospital Association, Gerald Gaß, expects a new record in intensive care patients, said BILD: “In two or three weeks we will exceed the maximum number of intensive care patients from April, and we can no longer avoid it . Anyone who enters the hospital with us in three weeks is already infected today. “
