In the morning, a long-distance bus with 32 passengers crashed on the Autobahn 24. According to the police, the bus at the junction of the Wöbbelin motorway (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) in the direction of Hamburg went off the road and was overturned.
Rescue workers with large numbers in action
Rescue workers from six volunteer fire brigades in the region were on the scene. The chief emergency physician, Alexander Stahn, told NDR 1 Radio MV that the majority of the passengers were slightly injured or unharmed, four travelers had suffered moderate injuries. The ambulance also said that all the passengers were taken to hospitals as a precaution. Doctors and patients had difficulty communicating: the travelers came from the Czech Republic, Turkey, China and Romania, among others.
No helicopters were needed
When the situation was a bit more confusing, three rescue helicopters headed to the crash site. They could turn around and fly back to their bases. It is not yet clear how exactly the accident occurred. The A 24 is closed on the Wöbbelin slip road in the direction of Hamburg.
