This is the news that Bundesliga clubs have been eagerly awaiting!

According to BILD information, the breakthrough was achieved in the negotiations between Sky Broadcast and the DFL on Thursday. In principle, both parties agree.

That means: the millions should still flow in April! Salvation for many clubs!

Background: Sky will pay a total of around 900 million euros for the 266 live broadcasts of the first division and all the games of the second division this season, in four installments. The payment of the last installment of around 225 million euros was questionable, as there have been no Bundesliga games since March 11 due to the Corona crisis.

They were said to be difficult negotiations between Sky and DFL. After all, there is still no decision on whether the season can end with ghost games.

According to information from BILD, the commitment looks like this: Sky pays a little less than originally agreed, but the money comes quickly. The announcer is the league’s top donor: Relief and gratitude towards Sky should be equally good for all clubs. Thirteen clubs reportedly threatened television bankruptcy with no money!

ARD and ZDF should also be ready to transfer their next installment (together, around € 40m). Talks with the DAZN streaming platform appear to be more difficult, which is said to have been under pressure due to worldwide disruption of sporting events. DAZN shows the games on Friday, five games on Sunday and the five games on Monday: the fourth installment is expected to be around € 20 million.

DFL and Sky declined to comment on BILD’s request.
