There Thiaw ran in perfect position and headed from a short distance at an acute angle with a nose dive to make it 1-0.
After the break, the VfB team entered the pitch with much more confidence and developed more pressure. A little later, Schalke coach Baum gave his players a note with apparently a new tactical direction for the team. But it changed little at first: Borna Sosa went free on the left in the penalty area, then the Croatian crossed over González, who missed with a header. The arrival of Nabil Bentaleb did not impress the Swabian guests either. On the contrary: Sosa and his teammates kept plowing, Stuttgart had almost 20 shots on goal at the end, Schalke only managed a third. Even a “billiard combination” between Schalke and the Stuttgart defense did not bring any decisions.
