The Jeep Grand Cherokee continued on its way but was found stopped on the B273 according to witnesses, said Kathleen Haase of the Brandenburg police.

“There were two people in the vehicle, both drunk,” he said. Blood samples were taken and the car was impounded.

According to the information, the cyclist succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The lifeguards had taken care of the man. An emergency physician immediately alerted that there was nothing he could do for the 55-year-old man.

“That was just an explosion,” said a local resident. He and his wife also wouldn’t have noticed any braking or squeaking.

According to police spokeswoman Haase, it is not yet clear who was driving the vehicle. Both men were arrested because there was a risk of flight, which shows that they were removed from the scene of the accident.
