Accident with seven cars on A1 – lock up
Remscheid There was a serious accident on the A1 on Wednesday morning near Remscheid with eight injured and seven vehicles. The highway was closed in the direction of Cologne until around 11 am There were miles of traffic jams.
According to initial information from the police, three cars were driving in the acceleration lane at the Remscheid junction in the direction of Cologne. The driver of the first car tried to get in in front of a truck, but interrupted the process and got behind the truck.
The other two drivers, who had already pulled into the lane, had to brake hard. This led to a chain reaction in the course of which more cars had to evade and eventually collided. Seven cars were damaged and eight people were injured.
Two inmates arrived at the hospital by ambulance. Six people had to receive outpatient treatment at the hospital. The police estimate that the damages will be around 80,000 euros. The cars involved were towed away.
