Bitter last minute tie: Eintracht Frankfurt can no longer win | hessenschau.de

Even a magic goal is not enough for Eintracht Frankfurt to win. Against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Hessians turn the game around on Tuesday and then give up all three points again.

Eintracht Frankfurt drew 3: 3 in their home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The guests initially went ahead with a direct free kick from Lars Stindl (14th), before André Silva with a double (21st FE, 24th) and Aymen Barkok with a dream goal (32nd) turned the game around before the break. Captain David Abraham saw the yellow-red card in the 81st minute. Again Stindl with a penalty from a foul (90th) and a header (95th) secured the final score.

The game started very badly for the Hessians. Only Borussia Mönchengladbach played in the first twenty minutes, Matthias Ginter already had the lead in the fourth minute when he shot free in front of Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. At the latest, when Stindl converted a direct free kick into the right corner in the 14th minute (14), Gladbach’s Champions League team seemed to be on their way.

Barkoks like Okocha once did

Little or nothing came from the Hessians, all the more surprising was the turn the game took in the 20th minute. After a corner kick, Laszlo Benes kicked the ball from close to Martin Hinteregger, and Silva safely converted the penalty. From then on, Eintracht was the team that determined the game, the guests only ran after them. The Portuguese first refined a dream pass from Barkok to Silva’s career with a wonderful acceptance of the ball, then with an icy finish in the far corner (24). Suddenly, the Hessians were leading.

And then came the great Barkok show. Following a pass from Silva, Eintracht-Eigengewächs let out several opponents in a small space of the penalty area, straightened the ball with the sole and casually pushed it to the far corner to make it 3-1 (32nd). A breath of Okocha passed through the forest of the city of Frankfurt.

Abraham sees yellow-red

But discharge after the dream goal must be followed by a real discharge. The Gladbachers, who were so superior early on, could be happy not to concede a fourth goal. After the break, for example, Amin Younes, who later had to leave the field injured, could have scored his first goal in the Eintracht suit, but he forgave.

But after a yellow-red card for Abraham (81st), the game turned upside down again. First Barkok dropped Breel Embolo in the penalty area, Stindl scored a goal at the end (90th). Just five minutes later it was Stindl again who headed into the last minute draw. A draw that should look like a defeat for Hessen.
