Corona package secures aid payments

The stimulus package of some US $ 900 billion (about 730 billion euros) foresees, among other things, the payment of higher unemployment benefits for March. In addition, most citizens should receive a one-time aid payment of $ 600.

However, Trump is asking, among other things, for an increase in the payment to $ 2,000 per capita, for which he has indicated that he could veto the legislative package. “Republicans have to stop gambling while Americans are starving,” Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren said on Twitter.

A government shutdown is also looming

The United States Congress had already launched a gigantic economic program in March. At a volume of $ 2.2 trillion, it was the largest aid package in American history. The funds were completed in April with another aid program.

The new aid program is intended to complement previous measures against the economic and social consequences of the pandemic. Despite the expiration of the current aid, Trump formally has until the beginning of January to enforce the law with his signature, or to insist on his veto.
