Biden is only missing one US state.

Washington (AP) – Even two days after the US presidential election, it was not decided who would govern the White House for the next four years. Republican President Donald Trump spoke out with impatient tweets and spoke again of fraud, without any evidence.

Democratic challenger Joe Biden urged patience and remained optimistic about getting the required majority of 270 votes in the electoral assembly.

Additionally, Biden still lacked a majority in one of the still-undecided states, provided that reports from the AP news agency and Fox television station confirm that the Democrat won the election there on Tuesday.

According to estimates by the AP news agency and Fox News television station, Biden has so far obtained the votes of 264 voters. Other outlets like CNN and the New York Times saw Biden with only 253 votes. The reason for this is that they do not yet consider that the state of Arizona is decided. On Thursday night (CET) the situation was as follows:

PENNSYLVANIA (20 votes for the electoral assembly):

Trump’s lead was narrowed by the continued count of absentee votes. More recently, around 550,000 ballots have yet to be counted, as Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar reported on CNN television station. When asked if a Pennsylvania winner could be announced at the end of the day (Friday morning CET), he replied, “Yes, we definitely could.” With a 92 percent count, Trump was with 50.2 percent of the vote just ahead of Biden with 48.5 percent.

NORTH CAROLINA (15 votes):

Nor is there yet a decision in the East Coast state. With an estimated 95 percent count, Trump was 50.0 percent ahead of Biden (48.6 percent). In North Carolina, mail-in votes received through November 12 are also counted.

GEORGIA (16 votes):

There is a very close race in the southern state. Trump led there with 49.5 percent before Biden with 49.2 percent. Only about 60,000 votes remained to be counted. “I think we can all agree that an accurate and fair count is much more important than a quick count,” said Gabriel Sterling, elections official.

NEVADA (6 votes)

In Nevada, Biden led just ahead of Trump (48.5 percent) with 49.5 percent of the vote. After counting about 87 percent of the ballots, Biden was just under 12,000 votes ahead of Trump.

In ARIZONA, Trump’s camp continued to harbor high hopes Thursday that it could tilt the outcome for Biden. The AP, which was very reluctant to announce its results, had already announced a decision for Biden in Arizona on election night, as did Fox television station. On Thursday, Biden led with a tally of 86 percent. 50.5 percent ahead of Trump at 48.1 percent. On Thursday, AP Editor-in-Chief Sally Buzbee said: “The Associated Press continues to monitor and analyze Arizona’s vote counts as they come in.” She emphasized: “We will follow the facts in all cases.”

Election campaign managers on both sides said their candidates were confident of victory and would secure the states that were still open. “Our data shows that Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States,” said Biden’s campaign manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon. Trump’s campaign manager Bill Stepien said the president was in good shape and would win the election. “Donald Trump is alive and well,” he said.

In several states, Trump’s campaign team has sent lawyers with lawsuits to deal with impending defeat. Trump himself asked on Twitter to stop the vote counting. The Trump election campaign announced plans to request a vote recount in Wisconsin for “wrongdoing.” In Michigan, he claims he has filed a lawsuit in court demanding that the count stop immediately until Republicans have access to polling stations. In Pennsylvania, lawyers hired by Republicans want to prevent postal votes that arrive on Friday from being considered valid: the US Supreme Court approved this rule.

O’Malley Dillon described Trump’s legal action as an act of desperation on the part of a loser. Trump had already won the victory on election night, although millions of votes were still missing at the time.

Protests broke out in New York, Portland, Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia and Phoenix on Wednesday night. Some Biden supporters demanded the correct counting of all votes, Trump supporters demanded that the counting be stopped and spoke of fraud.

The president of the United States is not chosen directly by the citizens, but by the electorate. With the exception of the two states of Nebraska and Maine, all of your votes go to the winner in the respective state. The electoral assembly meets on December 14.

In the partial congressional elections, which took place at the same time as the presidential elections, it became apparent that there would be no major postponements in either chamber. Consequently, Democrats could retain a majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans, on the other hand, have a good chance of defending their majority in the Senate. In Georgia there will be at least one runoff election for a Senate seat on January 5, 2021. In the state, the race for another Senate seat is so close that a runoff cannot be ruled out.

For the first time, two black deputies were elected to the House of Representatives who profess their homosexuality: Mondaire Jones and Ritchie Torres.
