Berlin S-Bahn fleet growth: On line 47 between Spindlersfeld and Hermannstraße, the first S-Bahn train of the new 483/484 class will depart shortly after midnight (0.01 am). The start is at the Schöneweide train station.

Two more trains will be added on the same line in the course of the day.

In total, the Berlin S-Bahn has ordered 106 trains of the new series from manufacturers Stadler and Siemens, the last of which will be delivered by the end of 2023. In addition to the S47, they will also be used on the S41 / ring-road railway. 42, the S46 between Königs Wusterhausen and Westend and the S8 between Zeuthen and Birkenwerder.

The heart of the Berlin S-Bahn fleet with around 650 trains remains the 481 series. The 500 vehicles in this series will be optically converted and adapted to the new trains by the end of 2023. Equipped with black doors and seat upholstery blue, many of them are already on the Ringbahn route.

With the commissioning of the latest series, the conclusion is that the fleet will grow by more than 40 trains because the oldest vehicles will stop operating in the same period.
