A large contingent of the Berlin fire brigade started a fire in a Berlin subway station under control on Monday night. Four people were injured in the fire, one of them seriously.
IOn Monday night, a large fire at Berlin’s Onkel Toms Hütte subway station called fire brigade. “We have to laboriously create a lot of openings in the roof for extinguishing work,” a fire department spokesman said shortly before midnight Sunday.
Shortly after, the fire department split on Twitter with: “The fire is controlled.” During the night four wounded were mentioned. A seriously injured person was taken to a special clinic with burns. Three people suffered minor injuries.
A large number of double-digit emergency services were in place. The fire department fought the blaze overnight. The fire first broke out in a store in the subway station and then spread.
During the night it was already clear that at least three stores were affected by the flames. Residents were warned in a nearby residential area. Some have left their homes.
A photo from the fire brigade showed high flames coming from the ceiling.
“Our drone takes pictures with the thermal imaging camera in the areas we can no longer enter,” the forces said on Twitter after the fire was controlled. The openings in the ceiling were created with special saws. According to the fire department, the THW was also in action. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
The operation of the U3 line of the Berlin underground is initially interrupted between the Breitenbachplatz underground station and the Krumme Lanke underground station.
