The case was made known to the public because the family consciously turned to them and asked them to find W. He created a website for this and provided daily updates on Instagram on the progress of the search. More recently, Toten Hosen and actor Daniel Brühl also indirectly participated in the search by sharing the family’s search request via social media.

W. had been missing since September 23. According to a report from the Berlin police, he was in the Berlin Charité that morning and was seen by witnesses around 7:40 am in the area of ​​the Berlin Central Station and the Federal Chancellery. About twenty minutes later, he called his relatives. Since then, there have been no traces of the 39-year-old father of the family. The family did not anticipate a planned disappearance.
