On Sunday evening, around 9 pm, a fire broke out at the Onkel Toms Hütte metro station in Dahlem (Steglitz-Zehlendorf). One store in the row of stores between Onkel-Tom-Straße and Riemeisterstraße was completely on fire. The fire also spread to the roof of the station.

One person was trapped in the building, a witness reported. She suffered severe burns and was rescued from the burning store by emergency services, as fire department spokesman Thomas Kirstein told the Berliner Morgenpost. They took her to a hospital. Three other people were slightly injured and suffered smoke inhalation.

There is a massive development of smoke, Kirstein said. The extinction work will likely continue overnight, the spokesman said. The fire department is on site with 90 emergency services. The cause of the fire is not yet clear. The criminal investigation department takes over the investigation after firefighters put out the fire and clear the place.

Police cordoned off the area between Onkel-Tom-Strasse, Riemeisterstrasse and Argentinischer Allee. A residential building on Riemeisterstrasse was evacuated overnight, as a police spokesman for the Berliner Morgenpost said. The residents were taken outside by emergency services.

Underground traffic on the U3 line is interrupted between Breitenbachplatz and Krumme Lanke stations.
