Berlin: BILD comment after the debacle of the demo in front of the Reichstag – internal politics

My grandmother always had a saying ready for every situation in life. One of them was: “If you are wrong, you have to answer for it.”

A lot of “nonsense” happened in Berlin last weekend! The crown demonstration announced for Saturday was first canceled and then allowed again. That is the case with the rule of law, fortunately! But the fact that Berlin Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (54, SPD) had justified the ban on demonstrations with previously assumed misconduct, suggested that it was not only about protecting health, but also about repressing opinions. unpleasant policies.

The first result of this hack-hack: with what felt like a “now more” announcement, probably a lot more people were mobilized than when the demo was registered.

Second, and much worse result: some of the protesters felt so empowered in their opinion that they were living in a so-called dictatorship that they even stormed the Reichstag.

In the end, only SIX policemen stood in front of the building, who had to resist hundreds of protesters. They not only protected the building itself, but also the symbol of our democracy.

There were unworthy and devastating images. Images for which at least the Berlin Interior Senator Andreas Geisel MUST take responsibility.

But instead of – as my grandmother put it – “stand up for him,” Geisel made a sitting statement Monday morning that he just wanted to succinctly appease. She even said that “the Bundestag was never unprotected.”

You have to let it melt in your mouth: only 3,000 police officers had to enforce instructions against some 38,000 protesters. And only SIX officials stood in front of the Reichstag when it got tough. The building behind you: 300 to 400 heated people in front of you.

The president of the Berlin police, Barbara Slowik, announced these numbers after the hostages were declared. And she also spoke to get out of the chaos over the weekend. “There were enough emergency services available,” she said.

This phrase is a cheek! Especially towards the police heroes, who were literally the last bastion in front of the Reichstag. One of them didn’t even have time to put on his helmet.

Such phrases make you incredibly angry! Finally, straighten your back. Admit a mistake. Defend your “shit”. This greatly increases credibility and builds trust. Especially in democracy. We must and must protect them with more than six policemen.
