There were two more arrests in connection with the Bergisch Gladbach abuse complex. This was announced by the Cologne police and prosecutor.
Consequently, the Recklinghausen district court issued an arrest warrant for a defendant on December 2. A 40-year-old man is strongly suspected of grossly abusing his three-year-old daughter.
In Lower Saxony, the Braunschweig district court also ordered pretrial detention on December 10 against a 33-year-old father from Lüneburg, who is also said to have abused his daughter. The researchers did not share his age.
239 suspects nationwide
According to the police, 239 suspects have been registered across the country in the Bergisch Gladbach abuse proceedings. Seven suspects are in custody, the prosecutor has brought charges against twelve people and nine have already been convicted.
“We will continue to work with full commitment to lift abused children out of their dire life situations,” said lead researcher Michael Esser. This has already been achieved in 52 cases.
Esser is the head of the “Berg” Special Organizational Organization (BAO), which is supposed to clear up the extensive abuse complex. The starting point of the investigation was the home of a family man in Bergisch Gladbach, in which the researchers found large amounts of child pornography data in October 2019.
According to Esser, seven cases were sent to other countries: Austria, France, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
