Mayor: “The protection of citizens is the highest priority”

A total of eight schools and an after-school care center are affected. Eight kindergartens in Bad Königshofen and in the Bad Königshofen administrative community also remain closed. “Our greatest concern was to avoid such steps, but now the safety and security of all citizens must have the highest priority,” Mayor Thomas Helbling (CSU) said on the Bad Königshofen website.

Initially, the district office had ordered a ban on visits to all nursing homes and nursing homes in Bad Königshofen until Wednesday. It is currently unclear how long it will apply. The workshop of a facility for the disabled in the district is also affected by corona cases. This was also closed for the time being. The residents of the dormitories, as well as the facility staff, were quarantined at home.

Numerous infected wedding guests and contact persons

The starting point for the growing number of new infections in the Rhön-Grabfeld district is the celebration of a wedding that took place on 12 September in the Bad Königshofen area. Of the 78 guests, a total of 17 were infected with the corona virus. According to the district office, 400 contact persons were identified. Of these, 270 have been tested so far. Twelve of the corona tests have been positive so far. So far, a total of 29 positive cases of crown can be traced back to the wedding celebration.

More tests on 120 people

Smears were taken from another 120 people today. In addition, other contact persons would have to be identified, according to the district office. The authorities have the support of ten soldiers for this.

According to the district office, 30 people in the Rhön-Grabfeld district are infected with Covid-19. Not all infections can be traced back to the wedding celebration. In an interview with the BR, Habermann asked citizens to be careful and pay attention to the rules of distance and hygiene.
