Tennis is a victim of the gym race

Indoor sports like tennis were still allowed in the lockdown light in Bavaria. Now the government is tightening regulations. Only school and professional sports are possible in the hallways. The Free State is thus reacting to a court order.
reThe Free State of Bavaria has banned individual sports indoors. He is responding to a final judgment that canceled gym closings on Thursday.
Due to the lack of equality in “training alone, as a couple or with members of your own household”, part of the Bavarian Crown Ordinance was suspended.
In particular, the judges wanted to allow personal training again after EMS offerings with electrical stimulation and yoga lessons were also allowed in the Lockdown light from the start, because they were considered services.
Sports halls closed from Friday
To restore equal treatment, indoor sports are no longer allowed; tennis, for example, is no longer possible. It was not initially clear whether medically necessary treatments, such as rehabilitation exercises or pregnancy exercises, were also affected. In Bavaria, almost all sports halls must be closed from this Friday; only school and professional sports are allowed indoors in November.
“The state government prefers a decision that Bavaria would have proposed at the next prime minister’s conference next Monday anyway,” said Secretary of State for Health Klaus Holetschek (CSU).
The background of the new regulation is a decision of the Bavarian Administrative Court (BayVGH). In reference to the principle of equality, it had lifted the previous closure of the gyms this Thursday because, on the other hand, other sports facilities were open for individual sports. Therefore, the court partially granted the gym owner’s urgent motion.
Increased infection situation in Bavaria
“The state government naturally respects the decision of the Bavarian Administrative Court and its reasoning,” said Holetschek. Therefore, through an immediate amendment to the ordinance, it will establish equal treatment of gyms and other sports facilities required by BayVGH by closing all covered sports facilities in Bavaria as of this Friday.
The increasing infection situation in Bavaria is forcing more measures to control things. “Protection against infection and the health of our citizens have absolute priority.”
