Schools and factories open! Bars and pools closed!

Starting from November 2, Germany is planning the partial lockdown for a time: for four weeks (until November 30) the country will lead to half the dip, to reduce the number of infections.

The federal and state governments agreed to these crown measures on Wednesday. If nothing improves in the first two weeks, the measures should be extended. If the resolutions work, you can gradually relax again.

► Restaurants, shops and retailers should be generously compensated with additional “emergency aid” (€ 10 billion) without prolonged checks. The federal government will replace: 75 percent of October’s turnover (for companies with up to 50 employees). Larger companies pay separately.

The number of new infections had skyrocketed in recent days, also because many people did not adhere to existing measures.

But against the lock switches, Horst Seehofer (71, CSU) wants to be tough on the future: the interior minister is sending thousands of federal police to fight the virus!

Seehofer to BILD: “The control of the measures is crucial for the success of the new regulation. To this end, the federal police will deploy thousands of officers in consultation with the federal states. First of all, this applies to big cities and hotspots. “

The Interior Minister also explains that entry into Germany from risk areas at airports, train stations and also on the roads in the border area will be increasingly controlled. “For this, the persecution of the veil is intensifying on all German borders within a radius of 30 kilometers to be able to monitor compliance with crown regulations for those who enter by car from risk areas.”

► Means: Federal officials can search 30 kilometers from the border without a specific reason or suspicion.

These rules apply from Monday

“We have to break the wave of infection. We have to act now! “

With this dramatic appeal Chancellor Merkel (CDU) initiated the Corona summit at the Chancellery. Together with the prime ministers of the federal states, it has developed a comprehensive package of measures to stop the rapid spread of the pandemic.

These are the most important decisions:

Schools and kindergartens remain open: The country’s leaders and Merkel agreed that schools and nurseries will remain open.

Tighter contact restrictions: The federal and state governments want to significantly restrict private contacts again. Starting Monday, only people from two households should be able to meet outdoors. The number is limited to a maximum of ten people. According to the resolution, this applies “immediately”.

The motto is: REDUCE CONTACTS – to the absolute minimum!

▶ ︎ Celebrate: “Groups of people celebrating in public places, in apartments, and in private facilities are unacceptable given the severity of the camps in our country. The federal government and the federal states are working together to increase controls, “says the resolution document.

Travel: In addition, the population is asked to refrain from making “unnecessary” private trips. Literally it means: “This also applies (…) to national day trips.

Sport: Fitness studios, pools, and fun pools will be closed. Amateur sports operations will be suspended, so the clubs will no longer be able to train. Individual sports, like jogging alone, are still allowed.

Professional sport: In view of the dramatically increasing number of corona infections, the federal and state governments only want to allow professional sports in November without spectators.

Services: Service companies in the personal care field such as cosmetic studios, massage parlors, tattoo studios, and similar businesses are closed because physical proximity is critical in this area. Medically necessary treatments, for example physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, as well as podiatry / foot care, are still possible. Hairdressing salons remain open under existing hygiene requirements.

Gastronomy: Restaurants, bars, clubs, discos and pubs will be closed. The delivery and collection of food for consumption at home is also allowed. The dining rooms can also open.

Leisure: Recreational facilities will close from November 2 until the end of the month.

● Theaters, operas, concert halls and similar establishments

● Fairs, cinemas, amusement parks and providers of leisure activities (indoor and outdoor), gambling halls, casinos, betting shops and similar establishments.

● Prostitution centers, brothels and similar establishments

● Leisure and amateur sports, with the exception of individual sports alone, as a couple or with your own home in all public and private sports facilities,

● Swimming pools and fun pools, saunas and thermal baths,

● Gymnasiums and similar facilities.

▶ ︎ Services: Nothing is explicitly mentioned in the resolution document. Merkel made it clear after the meeting: the churches will remain open.

Retail trade: In retail, 10 square meters of space must be calculated for each customer. Previously there was talk of 25 square meters.

New Crown Help: The federal government is planning emergency aid worth billions to companies affected by the temporary closures to contain the coronavirus. Sales losses must be reimbursed, financial aid must have a volume of up to ten billion euros.

If nothing improves in the first two weeks, the measures should be extended. If the resolutions work, they can gradually relax again.
