Radical change of program in the ARD! The news is more important than ever in the crown crisis. Appropriately, “Das Erste” has announced a change to a news program. A popular show will soon be showing again for longer.

ARD: Daily September Issues with Longest Streaming Times

On September 7, the news program will continue to take its place at 10:15 p.m. Monday to Thursday. From this day on, the program will no longer run for 30 minutes as usual, but it should continue for five more minutes than before. Ends at 10.50 p.m.

The broadcast of “Daily Topics” on Friday night is not affected by the change of program, it should last half an hour.


Volker Herres, program director at ARD: “We will use extended broadcast time in particular to give regional reporting even more space on ‘daily topics’.”

New section planned for daily topics.

A new regional section is planned with the title “#mittendrin”. It will initially air on Friday and from September four times a week. “This is an important step to further strengthen our information literacy,” says Herres.
