Apollinaris disappears from supermarkets, Coca-Cola is cutting jobs

Germany’s largest beverage manufacturer is being built, which is why a traditional German brand is going to disappear from the retail sector. Apollinaris (which has been around since the mid-19th century) will soon no longer be found on supermarket shelves for customers.

Coca-Cola is closing and downsizing several locations in Germany. 485 jobs will be cut, while around 120 will be created elsewhere, as Coca-Cola European Partners Deutschland GmbH (CCEP) announced on Thursday in Berlin.

The cola bottling plant in Liederbach near Frankfurt with 250 employees will close next year, while a buyer is still being sought for the Sodenthaler Mineralbrunnen in Sulzbach near Aschaffenburg.

In Bad Neuenahr, Rhineland-Palatinate, the Apollinaris brand is limited to gastronomic products. Coca-Cola took over the traditional brand in 2006.

In the competitive low-priced retail sector, the well-known brand will no longer be available from March 2021, as the company announced. Around 80 employees should opt for this.
