Police publicly requested evidence from witnesses of the raid on a ZDF team on May 1. Up to 25 people, and therefore more than previously thought, were said to have participated in the event in Berlin.
According to police, the attack on a ZDF camera crew in Berlin on May 1 was carried out by a group of attackers larger than previously known. There are also other indications that the authors may have been planned.
In a call to witnesses, police said as many as 25 masked people had been involved and entered the team in small groups and beat them, some with metal bars. The attackers were all dressed in black or dark and were masked. However, they would have partially removed their clothes or changed them during their escape.
The television team included four ZDF employees and three private security guards. A 50-year-old man was kicked to unconsciousness, according to police. A 41-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man and a 59-year-old man also suffered injuries. Three men, ages 21, 31, and 38, were unharmed.
Police sought more witnesses on Tuesday. “Who was able to observe the direction in which people subsequently headed? Who has photo or video recordings that show what happened, the leak, or the people involved?” Police arrested six suspects, some of whom are believed to be on the left scene, and released them the following day because there was insufficient evidence against them.
