American Louise Glück receives the Nobel Prize for Literature

Following the prizes for medicine, physics and chemistry, the Swedish Academy has now awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. The award goes to American Louise Glück this year.

rehe Nobel Prize in Literature this year goes to the American Louise Glück. The Swedish Academy announced Thursday in Stockholm. The Nobel Prize in Literature is endowed with 9 million Swedish crowns and, therefore, at present almost 860,000 euros. Honor the complete works of the awardees. The lyricist Glück receives him “for his unmistakable poetic voice, which finds universal validity in the existence of individuals of unadorned beauty”.

Last year it was for two writers, Austrian Peter Handke and Olga Tokarczuk from Poland. The academy thus compensated for the award, which was canceled in 2018 due to the scandal over accusations of harassment and corruption. Once the jury has been replaced and the award process has been reformed, the winners are selected through suggestions and a multi-stage process.
