According to police, a man who was killed on a walk in Ebersbach in Baden-Württemberg on Monday is a 26-year-old imam from Pakistan. The man preached in a mosque in Stuttgart, as announced by the Ulm police. He and his wife had been attacked while walking near an underpass. The man reportedly died “due to massive violence against the head.”

His 30-year-old wife survived the attack with minor injuries, prosecutors and police said. According to the wife’s testimony, two masked men approached the couple and beat her husband. The Südwestdeutsche Rundfunk (SWR) reports that the perpetrators fled after the attack. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The 26-year-old died at the scene.

According to SWR, the police also searched for the perpetrators with a helicopter, but so far without success. Now a special commission has been created. There is no concrete evidence yet for a motive, the researchers said. It will be determined “in all directions”.
