The number of new corona infections recorded in Germany has reached a previous high of 19,990 cases in one day. This was based on information from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday morning. The RKI reported the highest value since the start of the pandemic last Saturday with 19,059 cases. On Thursday a week ago, the number was 16,774.

According to the RKI, a total of 597,583 people in Germany have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic (until November 5, 00:00). The number of deaths related to the virus rose 118 through Thursday to a total of 10,930. The RKI estimates that around 391,600 people have recovered.

Positive: R-value keeps decreasing

According to the RKI situation report on Wednesday, the number of views, or R-value for short, was 0.81 in Germany (previous day: 0.94). This means that an infected person infects slightly less than another person on average. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier.

In addition, the RKI includes the so-called seven-day R in its management report. The value refers to a longer period of time and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 0.92 on Wednesday (previous day: 0.98). Shows what happened 8 to 16 days ago.
