Surprise at Bayern Munich: new signing Alexander Nübel was not on the roster of the record champions in the away game against TSG Hoffenheim on matchday two. The goalkeeper, from FC Schalke 04 in a free transfer before the season, appears to have lost the duel for the substitute behind clear number one captain Manuel Neuer to Sven Ulreich.
Nübel is looking forward to his first professional football appearance this season, having given up the regular spot and the captain’s armband for the move to FC Bayern at Schalke 04. Because: the 23-year-old wasn’t even considered for the second representation of Munich in the 3rd division. The reigning third division champion lost 3-0 against descendant SC Verl on matchday two. Nübel’s contract with FC Bayern runs until the summer of 2025.
