Negotiations with the minister failed

Farmers are currently under a lot of pressure due to low prices for milk and pork. In the recent past there have been growing protests by farmers against the retail pricing policy. Last week, farmers blocked the central warehouse of the Lidl discount store.

In Lower Saxony, negotiations had failed before the current blockades, according to NDR, in which, in addition to the State Agriculture Minister Barbara Otte-Kinast (CDU), farmers, dairy, representatives of Edeka, Aldi and Lidl and a market expert from the Chamber of Agriculture.

Also in Greven, North Rhine-Westphalia, around 50 tractors stopped in front of a central warehouse that night. A blockade with more than a dozen tractors was known from Montabaur in Rhineland-Palatinate.
