After voting: Trump’s revenge on his own people

[ad_1]

The president of the United States, Trump, is in the last meters of his power in a campaign of revenge against the country that did not re-elect him. He wants to make life as difficult as possible for his successor Biden.

A comment from Arthur Landwehr, ARD-Studio Washington

Donald Trump’s frenzied decisions, ordinances and firings of top executives send a clear signal: You understand that you have no more time except those few weeks until January 20 until someone else rules from the Oval Office.

He has realized that there will be no more four years in which he can achieve his political goals of restructuring America. He then uses the pen strokes that the law allows him to add final strokes to his legacy, which no one can cover up as far as possible.

Climbing in the last meters

That is undoubtedly one of the reasons he is still rushing to grant mining rights in the nature reserve, to lay the foundations of the wall in Mexico, withdraw troops from Afghanistan, or think about an attack on Iran.

He was there, all of which were elements of his 2016 promises that have yet to be fully implemented. The fact that he behaves like the proverbial elephant in a china shop, toppling fragile political and diplomatic structures with every move, doesn’t bother him. On the contrary: with each passing day, with each signing, it deliberately makes it difficult for Joe Biden to enter the presidency.

The hasty withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan alone could tie up Biden’s force for years, if the Taliban no longer feel a counterweight and seize power with a new tyranny. At the same time, Biden can no longer simply undo felled trees, paved roads, and drilling.

Trump in campaign of revenge against his country

In the final days of his presidency, Donald Trump also demonstrates what has shaped the past four years: He takes politics personally, waged a campaign of revenge against a country that has not reelected him, and launches into the field against those who do not support loyalty. Say “yes” immediately.

The defense minister, who does not want to send troops against the protesters, the cybersecurity chief, who dares to describe the presidential elections as “safe”, which Trump has falsified without evidence. You have to go. And drug companies, which in their view have delayed reports of a corona vaccine until after the election, are quickly forced into regulation to cut drug prices.

The Trump presidency had only one item on the agenda: Trump

You can clearly do all of this. He is president until January 20 and has these rights. Does it serve the well-being of the country facing huge problems? Certainly not, even the friends at the party are raising their hands to warn.

But these days, since November 3, they prove for the last time that the presidency of Donald Trump had only one real program, Donald Trump. They also give a preview of the time after, when he is no longer in power, but his followers will remain obsessed with themselves, in a political movement called Donald Trump.
