Two people shot to death in the street

According to initial investigations, he shot a 63-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man in the Gebersdorf district of Nuremberg on Saturday. Police spokeswoman Janine Mendel said police were alerted by a witness around 10:45 am that shots had been fired in the Gebersdorf district. They first found the woman lying in the street, then the man in a parked taxi. Any help came too late for both of us.

The police take on an act of relationship

It has not yet been clarified if the bloody act was preceded by a dispute, the relationship between the dead man and the suspect, if the man who was shot was an acquaintance or was only called as a taxi driver. But “the general circumstances and the testimony of the witnesses indicate an act of relationship,” emphasized the police spokeswoman. There is no evidence of a terrorist background.

SEK and the crisis intervention team were on duty

The suspect had not fled, but had been arrested in the vicinity of the crime scene. A firearm was found near the crime scene, the spokeswoman said. The SEK was also in action for a short time. A crisis intervention team and a pastor cared for close family members who had rushed to the crime scene.

The streets around the crime scene were cordoned off, the homicide squad and the forensic investigation were in place. The suspect must now be questioned by Kripo and an arrest warrant for murder requested, the police spokesman said. Witnesses would also be heard. The two victims will undergo an autopsy.
