Four people were injured in the accident around 9.45am on Thursday in Bayerisch Gmain (Berchtesgadener Land district). Among them are the two paramedics (35, 43) from the ambulance.
A police spokeswoman said the two occupants (83, 85) of the other car could be fatal. They arrived at a Salzburg hospital by rescue helicopter.
According to the police, the ambulance was heading for an operation in the morning with flashing lights and a siren.
