Fire investigators examined the home Wednesday.

According to the police, the fire broke out on Wednesday night in the roof structure of the single-family house in Bötersen. From there, flames spread throughout the building. A 41-year-old man and his 73-year-old mother died.

The son wanted to save the mother of the house.

The son had reportedly noticed the fire. He first brought his 78-year-old father, who slept on the first floor, outside. Then he returned home to save his mother, who was sleeping upstairs. However, he was no longer able to do that. Firefighters were only able to rescue the dead man and his mother. According to initial estimates, the damage to the home amounts to 200,000 euros.
