Striker Chadrac Akolo (25) was considered THE big promise at VfB a while back. When he came from Sion for a transfer fee of € 6 million in 2017, he made the news immediately: A displaced person from the Congo, who risked his life while fleeing the Mediterranean, is stirring up the Bundesliga.
In the first half of 2017/18, he was Stuttgart’s top scorer. And he was recommended for his VfB appearances for the Congo national team. A fairy tale But after half a year things went downhill, with their performance, with the seasons, with their market value.
In 2018, powerful player consultant Roger Wittman took Akolo and prophesied: “We want to make him a top player, he has the potential.” Instead, the nimble strikers took one low blow after another.

After the decline in 2019, the club served him and loaned it to France. With FC Amiens he goes down to the second division after the end of the season.
After all: Akolo played a good first half of the season. In winter I already had enough allowances to make the loan (fee of 500,000 euros) a purchase obligation. Amiens has to pay 3.5 million euros.
However, VfB is concerned about coal. Because: the end of the season will lead many clubs to a desperate situation. If Amiens files for bankruptcy, VfB will have to eliminate the transfer fee.
