Those over 60 are out of order
The 60-year-old group leaves the usual sequence after the Permanent Commission on Vaccination recommended that Astrazeneca no longer use the preparation for younger people. The background is cases of blood clots (thrombosis) in the cerebral veins.
In this way, 450,000 short-term vaccine doses were launched in North Rhine-Westphalia alone. According to the Ministry of Health, there are potentially around 3.8 million people between the ages of 60 and 79 in North Rhine-Westphalia who may attempt to register for this batch of Astrazeneca.
However, shortly after the lines were opened, the Düsseldorf Health Ministry reported via Twitter that the reservation systems of the two statutory health insurance associations were overloaded: “We ask for your understanding for the inconvenience.” Appointments are still possible. (jwo / dpa)
