In Berlin-Neukölln, a large family of Arab origin celebrated their wedding. The police were on the scene with a large contingent.

Sedan. Getting married for life is actually a beautiful thing. These days are probably not the right time for big celebrations. The Arab-born Remmo clan from Berlin’s Neukölln still wanted to have a big party on Tuesday night. However, the police moved in with a large contingent and were largely able to prevent violations of crown rules.

In a village in the Buckow district there were buffets and white doves in the garden. Eyewitnesses watched through a window as the bride and groom celebrated with numerous guests. The catering was later moved inside the building.

The party had started at night on Schinkestrasse in North Neukölln at the bride’s apartment. From there, the celebrators traveled in a car parade to the villa in Buckow, where the bride and groom arrived at around 8:30 p.m. The villa is one of 77 properties of the Remmo clan that were seized in 2018 and, according to a decision of the regional court, it is under the administration of the State of Berlin. Members of the extended family still live in the house.

Clan members known for spectacular crimes

According to information from the Berliner Morgenpost, the groom was the son of the chief of the clan Issa Remmo, and the bride comes from a large family of Arab origin known nationally. Members of both families are known for spectacular crimes: the Remmos in connection with the theft of the gold coin “Big Maple Leaf” in 2017, the robbery at the Green Vault in Dresden in 2019 and, most recently, the attack on a money transporter on the Kurfürstendamm in February.

In front of the villa in Buckow, there were repeated verbal discussions Tuesday night between wedding guests and law enforcement agencies and the sometimes heavily armed police. Clan Chief Issa Remmo is also said to have expressed his displeasure. A hundred Berlin policemen saw the wedding, the officers apparently did not arrive at the scene. Large numbers of police officers were stationed in a supermarket parking lot a few hundred meters away.
