Northeast Japan has been hit by another strong earthquake.

The earthquake on Saturday night (local time) with a magnitude of 7.2 triggered a tsunami warning, according to the Japanese television station NHK. A meter-high tidal wave could hit the coast.

“It is dangerous to be in the sea or near the coast. Those who are at sea must leave the sea immediately and leave the coast, ”the warning said.

Apparently a first wave has already washed ashore, he told himself. The task force is still checking whether nuclear ruins in neighboring Fukushima prefecture have been damaged, he said.

The earthquake could also be felt in Tokyo. The power went out in at least 200 Japanese homes. Initially there was no information on further damages or victims.

Recently, the same region was hit by a strong earthquake. However, it went relatively well.

Same coastline as the Fukushima disaster

Ten years ago, a strong tsunami off the same coast triggered a huge tsunami that killed almost 20,000 people. A disaster occurred at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

In Fukushima, the torch relay for the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for the summer will begin next week.
