Due to the high number of visitors in the past and especially yesterday, the city of Winterberg issued a general decree last night until January 10, 2021 prohibiting entry to approx. 40 tracks have been fitted out in Altastenberg, Neuastenberg, Niedersfeld, Winterberg, Züschen, the associated parking spaces, as well as around Kahler Asten and the large-scale parking lot in Bremberg. The purpose of the entry ban was and is to prevent day trippers from traveling to Winterberg in the first place.

Sadly, many daytime tourists headed back to Winterberg. To prevent the tracks and downtown Winterberg from running further, the access roads, including main roads, to Winterberg had to be closed early in the morning.

Despite the entry ban, some hikers managed to access the closed trails. These were specifically addressed by personnel deployed and accompanied from the runways.

The deployed forces of the city of Winterberg and the Hochsauerlandkreis district police authority constantly intervened when violations were found. A total of 150 parking violation warning fees, 26 traffic violation warning fees, 3 traffic violation administrative violation reports, 63 evictions, 6 mask requirement violations, 19 entry ban violations, 5 Violations of contact restrictions. Unfortunately, two criminal charges for assault had to be filed.

“Many thanks to all the police forces, in particular the external forces, the team of the public order office, the Winterberg volunteer fire department and the employees of the City of Winterberg, to all the volunteers who show great commitment , great competence and a lot of passion. Thanks also to the local gastronomy, which took care of the physical well-being of our helpers today. Thanks also to the caring citizens of Winterberg, “said Mayor Michael Beckmann and Police Director Carsten Robe.

The city of Winterberg will also work tomorrow together with the district police.
