Germany is discussing the acquisition of armed drones, as Russia announces the first flight of the MiG-41. Work on the interceptor project has been ongoing since 2013. The design of the MiG-41 was completed in late 2019. In 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense selected the MiG-41 as the most promising project. If the MiG-41 lived up to high expectations, it would be the most dangerous fighter in the world.

Hypersonic and proximity to space

The single-seat, single-engine interceptor is designed so that it can be used with a human crew, but also without it, only with AI control. The capabilities of the Mikoyan MiG-41 go beyond those of the SU-57. The SU-57 is Russia’s first stealth fighter jet, after long delays, the first models in the series are now being delivered to the Russian Air Force (read: “Stealth jet at a bargain price: Putin orders 76 aircraft of combat”). Here, Russia is far behind the United States. But the German-French stealth fighter “Future Combat Air System” can be expected to be deployed in 2040 at the earliest (read: European stealth fighter shown in Paris, but made of papier-mâché).

No air from the atmosphere

The MiG 41 is not a multipurpose fighter, but a pure interceptor with revolutionary capabilities. So it should reach up to 5,500 km / h, that would be hypersonic speed. The Eurofighter reaches about 2800 km / h. The range of the new Russian plane should be 1500 kilometers. Thanks to its engine, the MiG can climb up to 100 kilometers. The head of the Russian Aircraft Corporation, Ilya Tarasenko, said the plane could reach Mach 4 at 4.3, would be equipped with a missile defense laser and could operate at very high altitudes and even in tight spaces. This means that your engine does not depend on oxygen in the atmosphere.

MiG-31 replacement

The sixth-generation fighter has stealth technology, like that used by the Su-57 (fifth-generation). The cell is also supposed to be based on that of the SU-57. The MiG should be able to carry all types of modern missiles in Russia. Among them, the extremely fast anti-ship missile Zirkon (read: Putin’s zircon missile, faster and more deadly than the West expected “) and the multipurpose Kinzhal missile. It is also equipped with the most powerful air-to-air missiles in the world. They can aim. Shoot with a range of up to 300 or 400 kilometers. The MiG-41 is supposed to intercept intercontinental hypersonic missiles and carry anti-satellite missiles.

The first prototype should be completed in 2023, the maiden flight is scheduled for 2025. However, the Russian military likes to leak bold programs and delays are not unlikely. In the future, the MiG-41 should replace the MiG-31.
